May Mayhem

FYI, I selfishly update this blog to mostly keep a record/scrapbook of my family.
*Just a reminder if you were utterly bored with my posts...or lack of.*

Now, here are some random pictures from the month of May...for my benefit of course.

Here are 2 of the plethora of reasons I married Sean!

Mother's day brunch at Lily's Preschool.

Beach time with James, Cooper, and Ellie.

"Look mom, I did it all by myself!" hair-do's.
Dress up time.

Sweet 'blood rushing to the head' Dreams.
Just dang sweet!

Flying high.

Preschool graduation from Hilltop Preschool. May 27, 2010
Lights, Camera, Kindergarten was the theme this year. Lily with her friend Riley.

And with her friend Landon, who graduated last year but came to support her and give her this cute picture.

Somewhere in here Sean whisked me away to Maui. I will dedicate a different post to that trip.

Memorial Day
More beach time in Carmel. Memorial day weekend.
The weather was perfect that day.

Boogie boarders, Jeff, Cal, and Sean.

Bakersfield
My Grandfather Theodore William Hand passed away on May 26, 2010. Although obviously NOT ideal circumstances to gather my mom's side of the family together, it was so wonderful to see and hug everyone.

Grandpa was an airplane mechanic in the Air Force during WWII and so his casket was draped with the American flag.
The guard reverently folded and presented it to my Grandma, it was extremely touching.
My mom bravely spoke of her fathers patriotism, patience and peacekeeping talents.

Grandpa was witty, sincerely interested about everything going on in our lives,
and had a sense of humor that would cheer you up in no time flat.
We used to dance while he played the piano/organ and try on all his funny hats. He could fix ANYTHING mechanical and build a new set of cabinets for your kitchen if you wanted. I am extremely grateful for his influence in my life! He was an amazing and brilliant man!

The service was beautiful!

Cousin Guin with her niece Roslyn and my girls.

Cousin Ted, Bro-in-law Brent, and Sean.

My cute grandma and my mom watching the girls play.

I think the girls were a good distraction for their Great Grandma Hand.

I know Molly the dog certainly enjoyed their company.

My cousin Ted fixed my air conditioning which happened to go out in Bakersfield's 90 degree weather. Love you forever Teddy! You saved us! Grandpa's skills live on! We are sooo not used to the heat living by the coast like we do.

This is Daisy with my cousin Sarah's little girl, Roslyn. Daisy couldn't get enough of her, poor Roslyn.

Grandma Hand's house always provides entertainment.

When saying good bye to my grandma she tenderly and wisely said, "Love your husband."
Those simple words were so profound to me upon losing her own! Ladies, don't take your husband's for granted! Tell them you love them and don't let petty things get in the way!

Cayucos
On the way home we stopped in Cayucos where my Uncle Bill lives. My mom, sister Sariah, and her husband Brent came out as well. This was Brent's first time seeing the ocean!

Brent and Sariah with Morro Rock in the distance.

Mom and her brother Bill.

It was a short little visit and then we were on our way back home.

And that is a glimpse into our May 2010.
