April Aftermath

3 different Easter egg hunts + Lily's 5th Birthday made up the bulk of April's pictures.

Flashlight Hunt
First came a glow in the dark egg hunt orchestrated by the Burciaga family. The kids were armed with flashlights, baskets, and glowsticks. The whole park was littered in plastic, candy/toy filled eggs.

Daisy, Meg, and Lily on the starting line.

It was a blast, even with the rain. We may have to make this a tradition.

Heywood's Ranch
2nd came the Heywood ranch egg hunt the day before Easter Sunday.
We ate, (Sally and Daisy)

and played,

and played,

and soaked in time with friends that were moving soon,
(miss you Shauna)

(and you too Rachelle!)

The kids were pro's by now at the egg hunt, but opening the wrappers was still a challenge.
I wonder if Sean is opening that candy for him or for Daisy?

D'Penha's House

On Easter Sunday we went to the D'Penha's home.
Karey made her affectionately named "big-A" ham and I attempted my first cake that I decorated with frosting tips. It was so fun.

Once again there were way too many eggs to find,
and tons of candy to munch.

Lily's 5th Birthday

My Lily turned 5 years old on April 18!
She insisted on a seahorse party, so I tried to make it happen.

Seahorses everywhere! I had so much fun making her cake. I can totally see how people do cake decorating for a living.

The kids decorated their own party pail with seahorse stickers, did seahorse color scratches, made seahorse magnets,

played spray the seahorse with silly string,
The silly string game was a hit!
Each game they participated in they won prizes for their pails.

Then we walked to the park and did a pinata. I wish I could have found a seahorse pinata, but the fish filled in nicely.

Last but not least, cotton candy ice cream and cake.
Lily and Sierra enjoyed the ice cream a little too much.

Now all Lily asks me is, "Am I 5 1/2 yet?"

Marvelous March

Bonfires with the Laflans at Still Water Cove. (Jeff had so much wood to get rid of because they were moving to an apartment, so we did 2 fires)  Here is Tes and Daisy.

Sean and Jeff.

Lily and Daisy chasing each other in the surf.

March was a bitter-sweet month.  My Grandpa Hand was diagnosed with a brain tumor and so with a new perspective on life, he finally made the decision to be baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The events up to the baptism unfolded so quickly I was unable to be there. My moms brother (Uncle Bob) and most of his family were there along with my mom, dad, sister, and her kids. My cousin Ted performed the baptism. So, sad I missed it, but incredibly happy for him!

After that event my sister Sariah came out to visit with her girls Chloe and Emmy. This is the first time she has been to visit me in the 6 years we have lived here. My mom came too for a few days and it was so fun to do the local touristy things.

Here is my niece Chloe getting soaked with Lily the first day they were here.
My madre with my niece's Emmy and Chloe and of course Lily.

Thankfully we had some gorgeous weather while they were here.
Sassy cousins. Lily said it was so bright she was just trying to keep her eyes open.

My baby girl turned 2 on March 23 so we had a Happy Daisy Day.

Cousins Lily and Emmy.

Mommajo, sister Sariah, and me.

Daisy with her party girls Sally and Tes.
Cake time.

When visitors come we HAVE to hit the aquarium.

I took my niece's tide-pooling. Chloe shares a love of critters like myself.

Emmy...not so much. She cried most of the time and wanted to go home. I actually can't believe she is smiling in this pic. :) She is more like her mama, huh, Sari?!

The next day, I took Sari and the girls to Sean's office in Carmel. Here is Sean handing Sari a permit for wearing heels over 3 inches in town...Yes, you need a permit to wear high, high heels in the streets of Carmel-by-the-Sea.

Lastly, I drove them back to Bakersfield so we could all spend time with Grandpa and Grandma Hand. My oldest sis Jamey flew out as well and it was so wonderful to all be together. We got to see my Uncle Bill for a bit too. He is the one standing by me.

We hit up Dewar's for some delicious ice cream and taffy. It is the cutest place!

Pink, black, and green polka-dots, stripes, and checks adorn the joint. It is such a fun atmosphere! Here is Chloe and Emmy waiting patiently for their turn to order.

There was a 3 ft. chocolate Easter bunny that I wanted to get for Sean but I just didn't have the $220.00 on me at the time. Yikes.

It was fantastic to see, hug and reminisce with family. Especially with Grandpa. Little did we know that he would leave us a short 2 months later. Precious moments!
