Ode to Daisy

We have all been off and on ill the past 3 weeks. ICK! Just when we thought it was over, a nasty 48 hour bug hit Lily, then me, and now poor Sean has it. I am praying Daisy doesn't get it! I was wanting to have a late birthday party for her but the drive and energy for that has passed. So, Daisy, just because I didn't throw you a big party for your 1rst birthday like I did for your sister doesn't mean I love you any less! I hope you aren't scarred for life! Here is a glimpse of your first year with us...bless your heart.

Ode to Daisy

After about 10 hours of labor you were born on Easter Sunday March 23, 2008. I gasped at the scale when you where 8lbs. 8oz. (Lily was only 7lbs14oz.)

March. Mommy's attempt at a staged photo of you.
April. Your first of many magic carpet photos. You started to smile the end of this month.

May. A trip to Bakersfield to meet Great G&G Hand. Muffin, Punkin, (my mom and dad) and Uncle Seth were there too. Everyone was so excited to meet you.

June. Your father gave you a beautiful blessing in church.

July. Your sister being a goof. We traveled to Seattle, Carlsbad NM, and Utah this month.

August. You learned to roll over.

September. You started to sit up on your own and your first teeth peeked through.

October. You started to LOVE the swing and you were the cutest pink octopus for Halloween.

November. You started to crawl and teething galore!

December. You had a white Christmas at G&G Hands cabin, touched your first snow, and chased their dog Molly everywhere. You also started giving great kisses this month.
January 09... you learned to walk! Lots of beach and aquarium time this month.
February. You started this kissy face and discovered the tide pools .

March. Your first "face smack and slide on the asphalt" wound. Also, your first ear infection...it has been a rough month.

DP, Daze, Daisy Queen and as your father affectionately calls you, D-Train, you bring us so much joy! Here's to enduring us for ONE year baby girl!

WICKED Freaking Cool!

My friend Nikki is to thank for getting us to finally go see the musical Wicked (this was her 7th time seeing it). She flew out from New Mexico with her friend Mary and met up with her boyfriend Sam in San Jose. Sean and I met up with all of them in San Francisco Wednesday night at the Orpheum Theatre.
This was the stage. We weren't supposed to take pictures inside so this is the only one I got. In fact Sam took it for me because I didn't want to get caught. :) Notice the massive dragon up top, it lit up and moved. The set was remarkable this just doesn't capture it.
My camera causes the WORST unfixable red eye ever so excuse my freaky eyes in most of these shots. I am pointing to Patty Duke's name. She played Madame Morrible. Does anyone remember the Patty Duke show? "Their cousins, identical cousins...they laugh alike, they talk alike, at times they even walk alike, what a crazy pair"... I digress. Say hello to the cute little usher trying to get in our picture.

Mary, myself, and Nikki after the show. For those of you who have seen Wicked, "Defying Gravity", and "As Long As Your Mine" gave me chills and of course "Popular" was so cute and funny! The cast was amazingly talented!

Sam and Sean...so excited we dragged them along. They really DID like it. I can now convince Sean to take me to more of these. I would see a different musical every weekend if I could!

This is Vicki Noon with Sean and Sam, she played Elphaba (the Wicked Witch) and was incredible! She was so sweet too, signing autographs and taking pictures with everyone. I couldn't believe she got all the green make-up off that fast!
What a magical night away from the kiddos. Thanks Sarah L. for watching our children from 5pm to 2am! You are a rock star and I owe you big time! We will be making up sleep all week but it was worth it!

Boogery Birthday

Our whole family has been sick this past week and though on the mend, Daisy endured/enjoyed her 1rst Birthday...snot, tears, and all.

We did get out for a little walk. One can stay confined for only so long. Being sick is SO inconvenient!
I made brownies with marshmallow creme and frosting yesterday and so behold, Daisy's Birthday cake.
"Are you seriously letting me eat this?"

Sharing with Daddy.

Want some?
The loot.

DP wasn't sure what to make of this yodeling goat from my mom and dad. It sings the goat song from The Sound of Music. So funny!
She warmed up to it quick and showered her with kisses.

Happy Happy Birthday Daisy! We will throw you a real party when the boogers go away.

Tender?!

Ahhhhh, tender! The reality is that Lily is a little loopy from her medicine and Daisy just woke up. If only they were THAT sweet all the time.

Practice, Practice, Practice

I honestly can't believe Lily is almost 4 and we are just now working on her snorkel skills. What were we thinking?

Friday Night Fishin'

Lily's lil' buddy Drew turned 3 on Friday and so we celebrated at San Carlos Beach with the Hollobaugh's, Overfelt's, and Burciaga's.
DP is getting WAY too fast! (Excuse the goofy blue socks, my feet were chilly.) She LOVED roaming around the beach and looked so cute zooming back and forth.
Here go the fisherman/woman. The kids were ecstatic about the thought of catching something off of the pier.

No seafood was caught tonight, but we did eat some fab carrot cake! The kids had a blast casting the little fishing line's into the water/rocks. Lily did not want to leave.

Fun and freezing! Thanks for the Par-tay Hollobaugh's (and the pics)!

Lovin' DP

Dr Pepper. Mm mm! Those 23 flavors get me thinking about it everyday. Addicted...nah! In love...yep! It tastes so good to me! Dr. Pepper flavored jelly beans and chap stick frequent our home while new found DP flavored BBQ sauce and marinade will soon follow suit. Whenever we go to Utah we stock up on caffeine-free DP which I prefer but I cannot find anywhere around here that's not diet. Needless to say I am proud of myself when I go a day without it because I know how terrible soda is for you, especially with caffeine, but I just can't get myself to shake those 23 flavors (awful marketing ploy btw) of refreshment. Well, my little Daisy Patricia (DP), appropriately named, is sharing the love...She enjoys rummaging in the recycle bin and always manages to pull DP bottles out.Easy there girl.Disclaimer: no caffeine consumption occurred during these photos. Bottles were rinsed clean.
Note to Daisy: I really didn't name you after a caffeinated beverage. However, would that be all that bad?
