"Those Two Ladies"

Some sweet Jehovah Witness ladies have stopped by occasionally in the past few months. Well, last Friday I was upstairs changing Daisy's diaper and there was a knock at the door. Lily flings the door wide open, like she does with any knock at the door. I heard this taking place so mid-diaper I asked Lily who it was. She matter of factly YELLS up the stairs, "You know mom, those two ladies whose books you threw in the trash!?"

I about died of embarassment and laughter at the same time. When I came downstairs I just told them that I didn't have time to chat and wished them a Merry Christmas.
Needless to say, Lily and I had a nice talk about waiting for me before answering the door.

Disclaimer: I did RECYCLE their literature not just throw it in the trash.

Turkey Day

For Thanksgiving Sean's dad and stepmom (Mike and Randa a.k.a Poppas and Panda) came to visit us. The traditional Magic bag was held every night while they were here and Daisy was really getting the hang of it!

We took them for a drive down the Big Sur coastline and stopped at Julia Phieffer Burns Stake Park. You walk down a little path, go through a tunnel under the highway, and come out to a gorgeous, tropicalesque waterfall.

Of course, my photo doesn't do the waterfall justice. You can kind of see it right behind Sean's dad in the photo above.

It was such a gorgeous day, we did another little hike down to the water. This coastline is remarkably breathtaking!
We saw a harbor seal, which is common, but it was fun seeing it swim gracefully under the water from this vantage point.

Thanksgiving day Sean and Mike did the turkey on the grill and it turned out fantastic! Not to mention it freed up the oven for everything else and took a lot of stress off of me! Highly recommend it!

Carving the grilled bird and getting ready to feast.

We loved having Poppas and Panda here! It was such a short trip, come back soon!

Finally! Professional Photos!

My friend Laurel has a sis-in-law Amie that is an amazing wedding photographer and she is expanding her business to families and children. For a birthday gift to my girls, Laurel and Amie teamed up and did a photo shoot. Well, let me just say, these ladies are true professionals because my girls were not cooperating and I was sure nothing was going to turn out. When I saw the pics for the first time I was so touched *tear* because A.) we have NEVER had professional pictures done as a family and B.) they turned out SO amazing! I am going to treasure these forever! Here is a taste of my favorites.

Thanks to my sis Sariah for putting together this collage and my new header!

I LOVE these vintage looking shots of Daisy!

I am SOOO excited to get some of these framed and put up in my house!

Oodles of October

Every first Saturday of October our little town has the butterfly parade to welcome the monarch butterflies.

All of the elementary schools dress up and participate in the parade. This year the High School got involved too. The kindergarten classes always dress up like monarch butterflies. Lily will get to do that next year and is very excited about it.
Can you tell the band was a little loud?

This month has had quite a few gorgeous days which of course called for the beach.

At Marina beach there are some fun dunes the kids ride down on their boogie boards. Here is Lily with her buddy Meg.
(thanks for the cute pic Shawna).

Daisy with her gal pals Sally and Tes watching the big kids ride the dunes.

Miss Mischief!!! Yesterday I had to take her into the ER because she had climbed on the bathroom counter, took the "child-proof" lid off of Lily's Tylenlol Flu medicine, and spilled and guzzled until the bottle was empty. I found her with the bottle in her mouth. So, I called poison control and we tried to estimate how much she actually drank, they suggested I should take her to the hospital in order to monitor her heart rate. After screaming and thrashing around because she didn't want her pulse or temperature taken, she crashed in my arms, which she never does. The doc said the excess medicine in her little body caused drowsiness. Fortunately her heart rate was normal and she didn't ingest enough to be toxic.
She is WAY busier than Lily ever was!

Pumpkin carving, covered in goo.

My sis Sariah got a new camera and has been playing with pictures. Here are my little monsters.

Lily chose to be a pink sea star this year. My friend Rochelle helped me sew the felt together and then I glue- gunned everything else on.

In her natural habitat.

Daisy was a lobster and I can't believe she actually wore the costume. She was so scared of it everytime I attempted to try it on her.

Some friends at pre-school.

Trunk-or-treating at our church.

Enjoying all the hard work.

Us.

After Trunk-or-treat we went around our neighborhood with Lily's buddy Bella, she was the cutest Pinnochio.

Holy Cow, I can't believe it is November!

Snippits of September

Lily attended a fun birthday party at the Spencer's big red barn (notice the perfect snuggie picking in the background, thanks for the laugh Drew, ha). The man she is sitting next to own's the place and it was his grandson's birthday party. He was so sweet to offer carriage and pony rides. There was also a pinata, tons of bikes to ride, a huge playyard...etc. This was any childs' dream party.

On the carriage ride we stopped to pick blackberries. Daisy cried when I took her on it and she wouldn't dare get on the pony. Lily, on the other hand was in heaven.

The girls are usually so sweet to each other and just giggle all the time. It makes me smile. Here they are lovin' their babies and each other.

We had our friends Rufus and Juliet, who used to live here, come out and visit. We hung out at Juliet's dads beach house on Yankee Point and ate and reminisced. It was so fun to see them again! This is the couple that we used to watch the show 24 with EVERY Monday night...including the Monday I gave birth to Lily. We all watched it in my hospital room. Now, THAT is true friendship!
Here is Rufus, Sean and Lily making s'mores.

Juliet invited some of our other friends over as well.
Emily, Monique, Juliet, Me, and Nan. Of course my flash wasn't on, so Juliet you better send me your pictures! The view from her dad's house is breathtaking!

Sean took Lily on a Daddy-Daughter camp out and this is the only pic he took.  This is Lily with her friend Talia. I am not exaclty sure what took place there....

...but I know my daughter came home lookin' like a ragamuffin. Soda-stained face with dirt caked everywhere = a fun time!

Who's child is that?

Alright, now I can move on to October.

P.S. I know my apostrophe's are ALL wrong. When does it go after the 's'? I can never remember. :) And is snippit even a word? I need to refresh my grammatical skills.
